How To Be A Godly Woman
By Jaleia Christine
Before I get into this post, I want to ask you a question before we begin…
Are You An Example Of A Godly Woman Or A Reflection Of Culture?
When a woman gives her life fully to Christ, there is a deep transformation that occurs. A transformation in the heart and the mind that births a new creation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The things she used to do before she gave her lives to Christ should pass away. ‘Why’ might you ask?
Because God 1st renews us from the inside out so then we can become the new creation referred to in 2 Corinthians 5:17.
“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out” (Romans 12:2)
Without a transformed heart & mind, the morals of a Christian woman seem backwards. But despite what culture says, does, and/or thinks, us Godly Women MUST lead by example and be the epitome of a Godly Woman for our peers and upcoming generations to learn from.
Just to give this some context, I want to share a perfect example that goes along with the question I asked,
“Are You An Example Of A Godly Woman Or A Reflection Of Culture?”
A few weeks ago, I opened up a conversation about the #bussitchallenge on my snapchat. I want to discuss my motives behind speaking out about it.
So, in my original posts, I reposted a video of Koryn Hawthorne denouncing the #bussitchallenge. Then in a video my own I mentioned how the #bussitchallenge was not acceptable for a woman who loves the Lord to participate in.
In response to my post, many people got so tied up in the “innocence” of the challenge and how it symbolized self-confidence, to even understand my reason for bringing it up.
In reality, the real problem isn’t even rooted in the challenge itself — the problem is rooted in the hearts and minds of the individuals doing the challenge.
Sure the #bussitchallenge and even the #silhouettechallenge may represent self-confidence, etc., but to who’s standards are you appealing to? Culture or Gods?
We as daughters of the King are called to live our lives in righteousness and in holiness; to be spotless and blameless in the eyes of the Lord.
Since social media is so accessible to us these days, we have to make sure that we aren’t taking up pop culture and/or black culture as our own but remain grounded in our relationship with God.
In conclusion, the only way to be a Godly woman is to practice the character and integrity of a woman who’s life is submitted to the Lord.
